What we build

Custom Balloon Arches for Every Austin Event

Nothing changes a doorway, a dessert table or a backyard faster than a balloon arch, and nothing gets photographed more.

A balloon arch is a curve of balloons set on a frame or tied down at each end so it frames something: the front door, the cake, a stage, the couple, the grad. It does the job of flowers and draping for far less money, and it reads clearly from across the room, on a phone screen and on video.

We design every arch for your event, not from a catalog page. We match your palette, size the arch to the space you actually have and choose the balloon mix, from little 5-inch fillers and standard 11-inch balloons to 18- and 24-inch showpieces and chrome, pearl or foil accents, that gives it the shape you're picturing. Then we bring it, build it on-site and come back to take it down.

Our balloon arch decorations show up at birthday parties, baby showers, gender reveals, weddings, bridal showers, graduations, quinceañeras, company parties and grand openings. If there's a celebration with an entrance, a table or a spot for pictures, there's a place for an arch.

Arch styles

Balloon Arch Styles We Build

Style sets the whole mood. These are the arch shapes we build and what each one is best at.

Organic balloon arches

An organic balloon arch mixes balloon sizes in loose, uneven clusters rather than a repeating pattern, so it looks lush, airy and a bit untamed. It's the style behind most of the arches you've pinned or saved. Organic arches photograph beautifully, take flowers and greenery well and suit weddings, showers and big birthdays. They need more balloons per foot than a classic arch, so they cost a little more.

Classic and spiral balloon arches

A classic arch is made from tight, identical clusters of four balloons lined up along a frame. Rotate the colors from cluster to cluster and you get a spiral, with two, three or four colors twisting around the arch. Classic arches are clean, sturdy and ideal for school, team and brand colors, which is why burnt orange and white watch parties, graduations and company events still choose them.

Round, circle and hoop arches

A balloon arch circle, also called a round arch, ring or hoop, puts balloons on part or all of a circular frame. A full ring frames a person for photos. A half ring or crescent keeps the balloons on one side and leaves the middle open for a sign or a name. Round arches are a top pick for photo spots, proposals and sweet 16s.

Square and backdrop arches

A square arch balloon setup runs balloons up and across a rectangular frame, usually around a panel, a shimmer wall or a flower wall. It gives the cake table a full stage and gives photos a crisp edge. If you'd like the arch and the backdrop designed as one piece, see our balloon backdrops.

Half and asymmetrical arches

A half balloon arch, sometimes called a swoop or demi arch, climbs one side of a doorway, backdrop or table and ends partway over. It's the designer look of the moment and delivers a lot of impact with fewer balloons, which makes it a clever way to stretch the budget.

Double arches

A double balloon arch stacks two arches, one in front of the other or one nested inside the other, to add depth. It works for a wedding ceremony, a stage entrance or a grand opening where a single arch would disappear in a large space or under a tall barn ceiling.

Mini and tabletop arches

A balloon arch for a table is a small arch, typically 4 to 6 feet wide, that frames the cake, the desserts, the gifts or the sweetheart table. Small balloon arches and table top balloon arches are made for downtown apartments, restaurant private rooms and baby showers where floor space is limited.

Entrance and doorway arches

A balloon arch entrance shows guests where the party is before they reach the door. We build them over front doors, garage doors, porch steps, venue entrances and shop doors. Arches outside a storefront or on an open lawn are weighted and tied off for Central Texas wind. Add balloon columns on each side for a complete entrance.

Large and giant balloon arches

A large balloon arch, 16 feet and up, spans double doors, a stage or a driveway. Giant arches for store openings, school events and festivals can stretch 25 to 40 feet using 24- and 36-inch balloons. At that size the arch becomes a custom balloon installation, planned around the site.

Balloon arches with flowers and greenery

A floral balloon arch weaves silk or fresh flowers, eucalyptus, pampas or greenery into the clusters. It's the softest, most wedding-friendly version of an arch, and it's a natural fit for bridal showers, baptisms and Mother's Day brunches, as well as the barn and garden venues around the Hill Country.

Sizing

Balloon Arch Sizes: How Big Should Your Arch Be?

Measure before you choose. A too-small arch looks lost in photos, and a too-big one blocks the door.

Popular balloon arch sizes and where each fits
Arch sizeWhere it fitsApprox. balloons
4–6 ft tabletop or mini archCake, dessert and gift tables60–110 organic
6.5–7 ft frame archPhoto spots, single doorways, small backdrops90–130 organic

16–20 ft archDouble doors, stages, 10 ft backdrops240–360 organic or 100–130 classic
25 ft and largerGrand openings, gyms, outdoor entrancesPlanned site by site

Arch length is measured along the curve, not straight across the floor. A 16–20 ft arch usually stands about 8–9 ft high and 8–10 ft wide. Counts change with balloon size and how full the design is.

How many balloons for a balloon arch? Classic arches made from 11-inch balloons take about 5–6 per foot. Organic arches take about 12–18 per foot because they layer 5-, 11- and 18-inch balloons together. That puts a 6 ft organic arch at roughly 70–110 balloons and a 20 ft one at roughly 240–360. A bag of 50 will cover a small tabletop or half arch, but not a full arch over a doorway.

Pricing

How Much Does a Balloon Arch Cost in Austin?

Most of our full-size arches come in between $215 and $550. Here's where pricing starts and what changes it.

Balloon arch pricing
ArchStarting at
Tabletop or mini arch (4–6 ft)$185
Frame arch with garland (6.5–7 ft)$215
Doorway arch (10–12 ft)$295
Themed welcome arch with foil accents$325
Full balloon arch (16–20 ft)$425
Double, giant and 25 ft+ archesCustom quote

Prices include delivery, setup and pickup in our core Austin service area. Hill Country venues and drives past 35 miles add a travel fee starting at $55.

What affects the price of a balloon arch:

  • Length and density. More feet and fuller clusters mean more balloons and more time on-site.
  • Style. An organic arch needs more balloons per foot than a classic or spiral arch does.
  • The balloons themselves. Chrome, pearl, double-stuffed custom shades and big 18–36 inch balloons cost more than standard latex.
  • Extras. Flowers, greenery, foil shapes, vinyl names, neon signs, marquee letters and backdrop panels.
  • How it stands. A frame or stand is part of most quotes; hanging the arch from a venue's beams or rafters takes extra labor.
  • Distance and timing. A Georgetown-to-Kyle run on I-35, a sunrise install or a narrow hotel load-in window all play a part.
  • Teardown. We can come back for everything after the party, or you can keep the balloons and skip pickup.

What do most people spend on a balloon arch? With us, most full arches come in between $215 and $550, and a written quote takes one message: send the date, venue, size and colors. The garland, column and backdrop pages each list their own starting prices too.

Occasions

Balloon Arches for Every Occasion

The arch shifts with the event. These are the celebrations we build them for most.

Birthday party balloon arches

First birthdays (wild one, berry sweet, one-derful), kids' character parties, sweet 16s and the big ones like 30, 40, 50 and 60, often with a foil number or marquee number built in.

Baby shower and gender reveal arches

Soft neutral or pastel arches for showers and sprinkles, and pink-and-blue gender reveal balloon arches with a question mark or a "boy or girl" moment worked in.

Wedding balloon arches

Arches for weddings, bridal showers, engagement parties, bachelorette weekends and anniversaries, usually in whites, nudes and champagne with florals.

Graduation balloon arches

Grad arches in school colors with the class year, plus arches for prom, homecoming and senior night. The rush peaks in late May, when ceremonies across Round Rock, Leander and Pflugerville land on back-to-back weekends.

Quinceañeras and sweet 16s

Show-stopping arches behind the court's table or at the door of the salón, in her colors, with chrome, crowns and her name.

Baptisms and first communions

White, ivory and pale blue or pink arches for baptisms, christenings and first communions, at home or in the parish hall.

Corporate events and grand openings

Brand-color arches for store openings, ribbon cuttings, booth displays, team celebrations and the brand pop-ups that come to town for SXSW every March.

Holiday balloon arches

Halloween and Christmas lead the calendar, followed by Valentine's Day, Easter, Diwali, Thanksgiving, the Fourth of July and New Year's Eve.

Retirement, welcome home and memorials

Retirement send-offs, welcome-home arches over the front door, and gentle, tasteful arches for celebrations of life.

Colors and themes

Popular Balloon Arch Colors and Themes

Send a photo, an invitation or just a color, and we'll build the palette out from there.

The color palettes we're asked for most

  • Black and gold. The go-to for milestone birthdays and New Year's Eve.
  • Blush, white and gold. Showers, bridal events and first birthdays.
  • Terracotta, sage, rust and sand. The desert-boho look that suits Austin homes, patios and Hill Country venues.
  • Pastels and rainbow. Kids' parties, Easter and anything that should feel bright and cheerful.
  • Red, white and blue. The Fourth of July, military homecomings and patriotic events.
  • Burnt orange and white, maroon and gold, or your school's colors. Longhorn game-day parties, Texas State grads and senior nights.
  • Marigold, magenta and gold, or red and gold. Diwali gatherings and Lunar New Year parties.

Themes

Character arches pair licensed foil balloons for the characters with latex in matching colors for the arch itself. Bluey, Minnie and Mickey, Spider-Man, Paw Patrol, Toy Story, Hello Kitty, Pokémon and Stitch come up the most. Other favorites include dinosaurs, mermaids, the very hungry caterpillar, "we can bearly wait" teddy bears for showers, disco-cowgirl bachelorettes, and western and rodeo themes around Rodeo Austin each March.

Your options

Balloon Arch Rental, Full Installation or a DIY Kit?

There's more than one way to get an arch into your party. Here's how the options stack up.

Your balloon arch options compared
OptionWhat's includedPick it when
Full installationDesign, delivery, an on-site build and pickup afterwardYou want it right and don't want to spend the morning of the party on a ladder
Balloon arch rentalA ready-made frame arch dropped off, then collectedSmaller arches, photo spots and simple setups
Grab-and-go garlandA finished garland you collect and hang yourselfShort runs for a table or a wall, tighter budgets
DIY balloon arch kitA bag of balloons, a decorating strip and glue dotsSmall arches, a free afternoon and a patient helper

Is a balloon arch easy to make? A small kit arch is manageable for a beginner with an electric pump and an open afternoon. A full organic arch is a different story: pros spend one to three hours on-site, and first-timers often spend four to eight, plus a second run to the store for more balloons. Balloons also pop, wrinkle and go cloudy when they're blown up too early, overinflated or left in a hot car. If the arch is the centerpiece, having it built for you is usually money well spent.

Austin weather

Outdoor Balloon Arches in Austin Heat, Sun and Wind

Yes, an arch can go outdoors. In Central Texas it just takes some planning.

Latex and Texas summers don't get along. Austin regularly sees triple-digit afternoons in July and August, and strong sun does three things to an arch: heat swells the air inside until balloons burst, UV light oxidizes the latex so it turns dull and cloudy within hours, and dark colors like navy and black soak up the most heat. Spring brings its own trouble, with storm season from roughly March through May and sudden straight-line gusts, and lakeside and hilltop venues catch wind on even calm days.

  • Find shade. Set outdoor arches under a porch, a covered patio, a pavilion, a tent or the shade of a live oak whenever possible.
  • Build late. For summer afternoon parties, we schedule the install close to start time rather than first thing in the morning.
  • Use air, not helium. Outdoor arches are air-filled on a frame. Helium balloons in Texas heat fade fast.
  • Go lighter outside. Pastels, whites and metallics hold up in sun far better than black or deep navy.
  • Anchor it. Outdoor arches get weighted bases and tie-offs, especially on Lake Travis decks and open Hill Country lawns.
  • Plan for weather. A light shower won't hurt latex. Lightning or high wind means moving the arch indoors or under cover.

Longevity

How Long Does a Balloon Arch Last?

Air-filled and indoors, a balloon arch lasts several days. Outdoors in an Austin summer, plan on the length of the party.

Typical balloon arch life by setup
SetupUsual life
Air-filled, indoors with ACSeveral days, often a week or longer
Air-filled, outdoors in shade (spring and fall)A full day, often into the next
Air-filled, outdoors in direct summer sunA few hours before clouding and popping
Helium arch or helium bouquetsHours, unless treated to float longer

Will my balloon arch last 4 days? Indoors and air-filled, yes. That's why a night-before install works so well for morning events, and why arches for multi-day events stay inside. How far in advance should a balloon arch be made? Indoors, the night before or even two days ahead is fine. Outdoors in summer, build it the same day.

How it works

How to Book a Balloon Arch in Austin

Four steps and no pressure. A quote is free and doesn't lock you into anything.

  1. 1

    Share the details

The date, the venue or zip code, the size or space, your colors and any inspiration photos. It takes about a minute.

  2. 2

Get a design and a price

We send back a design plan and a written quote, and we'll adjust it for free until it's right.

  3. 3

    We build it on-site

We show up in your setup window, build the arch and make sure it's steady and ready for photos.

  4. 4

    Party, then pickup

Enjoy the celebration. If teardown is part of the plan, we come back for the frame and the balloons.

How far in advance should you book a balloon arch? Two to four weeks out is comfortable for most parties. Give yourself more time for late-May graduation weekends, spring and fall wedding Saturdays in the Hill Country, October and December holiday weekends, and March, when SXSW fills the city. Short-notice dates are still worth asking about.

Questions

Balloon Arches in Austin: FAQ

How much is a balloon arch?

Our balloon arches start at $185 for a tabletop arch, $215 for a 6.5–7 ft frame arch and $425 for a full 16–20 ft arch, delivered and installed. Size, style, balloon count, extras and drive distance decide the final price.

How long do balloon arches last?

An air-filled arch lasts several days indoors, often a week or more with the AC on. Outdoors in shade it lasts about a day, and in direct Austin summer sun only a few hours. Helium arches last hours unless treated.

How many balloons do you need for a balloon arch?

About 12–18 balloons per foot for an organic arch and 5–6 per foot for a classic arch. A 6 ft arch takes around 70–110 balloons, and a 20 ft organic arch takes around 240–360.

What's the difference between a balloon arch and a balloon garland?

An arch stands on its own frame or anchors and curves over something. A garland is the flexible strand of balloons, which can be shaped into an arch or hung along a wall, mantel, table or doorway. Every organic arch is a garland on a frame, but not every garland is an arch.

Do balloon arches use helium?

Most don't. Arches are air-filled and held up by a frame, so they last longer and cost less. Helium is for floating arches and bouquets, which last hours to a day.

Can you put a balloon arch outside in Austin?

Yes. Outdoor arches are air-filled, weighted and best placed in shade. Summer sun and heat will fade and pop balloons within hours, so outdoor summer arches are built close to party time, and lakeside or hilltop setups get extra anchoring.

How far in advance should I book a balloon arch?

Two to four weeks ahead is ideal. Book earlier for late-May graduations, Hill Country wedding Saturdays in spring and fall, SXSW in March, and Halloween and December weekends. It's always worth asking about short-notice dates.

How far in advance should I make a balloon arch?

Indoors, an air-filled arch can be built the night before, or even two days early, and look the same at the party. Outdoor arches should be built the day of the event.

Do you deliver and set up the arch?

Yes. Full-service arches are delivered, built on-site and picked up after the event. Ready-made frame arches and grab-and-go garlands are available too if you'd rather set up yourself.

Do you travel to Hill Country venues?

Yes. Ranch, barn and winery venues out toward Dripping Springs, Driftwood and beyond are part of what we do. Venues more than 35 miles out add a travel fee starting at $55, and we plan the build around the venue's setup window.

What if a guest has a latex allergy?

Ask for a latex-free design. Arches, walls and backdrops can be built from foil balloons instead, and many hospitals, schools and offices require foil only.

Do you tip a balloon arch decorator?

It's up to you. Some hosts tip the install crew 10–15% for a large or early-morning build, and others leave a review instead.

Tell us the date. We'll build the balloon arches.
